Aloha everyone - 

I want to say thank you again to everyone who has taken the time to sign this petition in support of renaming the stadium after Coach Aum. 

When I first started this petition, my hope was that we could gather 1,000 signatures in support and that it would be enough to show the impact that he had on our community, but we are now at 3,413 supporters with the petition being viewed over 113k times and shared over 1800 times. 

Coach Aum's story has now been covered in multiple media outlets but two came out today that I want to highlight if folks haven't seen them. 

First there is this really great piece from the Clackamas Review with some great quotes from John Denny, who covered sports in our area for 40+ years as well as Chuck Nott who coached track & field with Aum. 

I was also happy to see that local sports commentator/columnist John Canzano covered Aum as part of his substack and he had Ken Buckles on his podcast to talk about Buckles' experience hiring and working with Aum and how much he meant to the kids he worked with.

As an update about next steps: At this weekend's vigil I learned that the decision to name the field/stadium is one that would likely need to be made at the school board level. 

So I reached out to one of my contacts on the North Clackamas School District Board and her and I were able to connect earlier today. She told me that the district superintendent and the entire board is aware of this petition and the support it has within the community. 

I was told that the board is in agreement that they want to do something to honor Aum and that there is an existing process through the school board to do so.

I was assured that they will be figuring out what needs to be done and keeping me informed as they have confirmed the necessary steps.

I will keep updating this page as I get more info, but please make sure you are continuing to share this petition and Aum's story so that we can continue to show the overwhelming support for this effort. 

Lastly, Friday night is the game against Molalla @ MHS. Kickoff is at 7pm. 

I've started a FB event page that I've been sharing with MHS alumi who are interested in showing their support his Friday. I'm hearing that there will be a banner made to honor Aum and that there will be a special section for alumni.
