Nadiya’s story is tragic. All students deserve a safe and supportive school environment.
I will consider the recommendations outlined in this petition and work with the Legislature to update existing laws as necessary and appropriate.
I also fully support NY's Dignity for All Students Act, which deals with harassment and bullying on school property.
The NYS Education Department must continue to work with local school districts to raise awareness and to enforce existing laws and regulations pertaining to this important issue.
