Last year I was followed by a camera crew as I delivered this petition to Mr. Timpson, MP, for then Minister responsible for special educational needs. Off the back of that meeting, the Department for Education commissioned some research, which has now been published by the Communication Trust, looking at literacy support for children and young people who use AAC. Since that meeting, the Minister has changed twice, but until the literacy teaching of all children regardless of their label it is taken seriously, this campaign will continue.
