Copwatch is a project that has been a long time coming, and thanks to you it is becoming a reality - with the money raised so will ensure the National Justice Project can reach 7 more Aboriginal communities to deliver this vital legal and video training. The Authorities are noticing all the media and the police are planting stories all over the media to discredit our communities. They obviously can see public support for Copwatch growing. – There is nothing crazy about giving my people human rights training and media – this is what other people get to enjoy: https://chuffed.org/project/copwatchnjp Aboriginal mums, dads and kids have long cried out against bad police behaviour– together we are shining a spotlight. When video evidence is collected of police harassment in our communities, we can really see if police are willing to hold themselves to account. Des is a Leader of Aboriginal organisation Murdi Paaki - he said 16 Aboriginal communities in NSW's central west will put their hand up for Copwatch if it gets off the ground. 16!!! He said: "The community shouldn't be the ones monitoring the police behaviour but we have to because of ongoing abuse" These communities want empowering legal and media training, and we are making it happen with everyone chipping in a little.
