Reverse the decision to bait-trap and euthanize the deer population of Mt. Lebanon.

Reverse the decision to bait-trap and euthanize the deer population of Mt. Lebanon.
The Issue
The Commissioners of Mt. Lebanon have decided that the deer population is a big enough problem that it warrants harshly unfair treatment of deer. The following description of the cruelty is provided from the Mt. Lebanon Commissioner's website, saying, "Corral traps will be built and baited in safe public areas over a period of several days. The bait will attract deer to the corrals. Trail cameras will monitor the corrals, sending real-time images to the trappers. When large groups of deer are inside a corral, a text message will activate the closure of the gate. Immediately, a crew will dispatch to shoot the deer using suppressed, small-caliber rifles." The Commissioners go on to say that this approach is "humane", and they use round-about language to try and say that their approach to the murder of the deer will minimize the stress of the animals they will capture and murder. This entire project was started under the goal "to reduce deer/vehicle collisions within the municipality by 50 percent within five years". Their solution to stop deer deaths in our municipality is to kill them in masses. Their decision is a gross representation of animal cruelty, and the fact that they say they make their decisions while representing the citizens of Mt. Lebanon, PA is ridiculous. What is even more despicable is that the municipality is paying a company (www.wildlife-specialists.com) $500 of taxpayer money per deer killed. Mt. Lebanon does not value our gardens over animal lives. Please, sign this petition and urge the commissioners of Mt. Lebanon to stop this horror from happening. Please email the commissioners (commission@mtlebanon.org) and voice your disapproval. Stop this government-sanctioned animal cruelty.
