Creating this petition was the one thing I didn't ask permission to do and I know that both the girls are extremely grateful and surprised for your support. Please urge your friends to support the petition, it is outrageous that you can be charged with 'obstructing the police' while trying to carry out a peaceful protest, just because the police don't want to put themselves in danger to protect you. When you actually consider it, it is downright offensive we are allowing ourselves to even consider the flying of the national flag in our own country as being a protest, peaceful or not. The saltire is and always will be the national flag of Scotland, just as the St George's cross is the national flag of England. I'm sure many believe the charges might never have been pursued, but that doesn't mean we should let this slip. This is just one of those many tiny little incidents that chips away silently at our civil liberties and we should send a strong message that we won't accept this in Scotland.
