The Issue

Dated: June 18th, 2017
Subject: Petition for withdrawal of orders unceremoniously removing Prof. Shashwati Goswami from Course Directorship of IIMC’s Radio and TV Journalism department and asking her to vacate campus residential accommodation.
Dear Sir,
We, the former students of IIMC, seek your attention to express our deep concern over the unceremonious removal of Prof. Shashwati Goswami from the position of Course Director of Radio and TV Journalism (RTV) department at IIMC, Delhi, and the sudden and rather crudely timed order asking her to vacate her campus residential accommodation with one month’s notice. She lives with her two school-going children in the institute’s guest hostel.
Sir, as you may be aware, Prof. Shashwati Goswami is a highly competent, skilled, reputed and conscientious academician who is widely respected for her academic rigour and professional credentials, as much as for her strong sense of ethics, principles and honesty. Her stint in the campus is testimony to her brilliance as a teacher. She is particularly respected by the students for her thoroughly professional and democratic conduct.
Prof. Goswami is considered one of the best teachers and Course Directors of IIMC who has always gone beyond her call of duty to help students with regard to their academic and professional career. You will most certainly agree that in the last one decade her contribution in the progress of Radio and TV Journalism department has been immeasurable, and during her tenure as Course Director, the department has touched new heights of excellence, with great respect and popularity earned in the media industry.
Therefore, it is extremely disheartening to witness that Prof. Goswami has been issued these totally unexpected, unjust and arbitrary orders by Mr. KG Suresh, Director General, IIMC.
Keeping the above in view, we humbly request you to look into the matter personally and reinstate our teacher, Prof Shashwati Goswami, as Course Director of Radio and TV Journalism department, and withdraw the notice asking her to vacate her campus residential accommodation.
Thanking you,
Sincerely Yours,
Former Students of IIMC
