Please write you your MP (http://www.theyworkforyou.com/) to ask them to support the THIRD early day motion (https://www.parliament.uk/edm/2016-17/10) which Caroline Lucas has tabled in support of a change in the law so that mothers names and occupations can be included on marriage certificates alongside fathers names and occupations. There was nothing in the Queen’s Speech about this issue and it is important that we continue to pressure the Government to implement legislation. If your MP is Conservative then please ask them to explain why, nearly two years after David Cameron agreed that this needed to change, the Home Office is still saying that “A timetable will be confirmed for changes as soon as there is an opportunity to legislate on this matter.” Many thanks for your support!
