Stop using gelatin in Starburst and Hi-Chew
The Issue
As a child, Starburst was my favorite candy, and in later years I fell for Hi-Chew for the same reasons: the satisfying texture and loud flavors. Only in recent years did I stop eating them, as they contain gelatin a substance derived from tendons, ligaments, skin, and other animal byproducts; the consumption of gelatin is against my beliefs. There exist non-animal-derived substitutes for gelatin that can provide the same great texture, such as agar agar and carrageen. I strongly encourage Mars and Morinaga to pursue this change so that I can continue enjoying strawberry Starburst and lychee and melon Hi-Chew. I am confident anyone else who signs this petition will also enjoy more of your treats.
