Since last I wrote supporters of the Moreton Climate Action Now campaign have taken a deputation to local council and are following up with some awesome facts to help Council understand why declaring a climate emergency is so much more than hollow words.
I know that you know how important our support is and here are some amazing facts I discovered over the past week.
Of the 564 local council areas around Australia, 110 have declared climate emergencies. While this doesn't sound like much, the total population of these 110 champions adds up to over 10.2 million people. This means that almost 40% of the Australian population now lives in areas that HAVE declared a climate emergency. Wow!
Perhaps your council is one of them.
Sadly, my LGA, Moreton Bay Regional Council is not so thank you for supporting this petition through signing and sharing.
We'd like to gather still more signatures to help show Council that yes, people DO care and it must act to be on the right side of history.
Since I last wrote, the number of signatures has increased by some 8.5% so let's keep sharing and encouraging shares to share.
Let's keep that ripple going!
