Students Need Safe Waiting Areas

In Cagayan de Oro, students wait for jeepneys and tricycles under extreme heat or heavy rain due to the lack of covered waiting sheds and walkways near schools.

This exposes students to health risks, including heat exhaustion and getting sick from the rain. It also creates safety concerns, as students are forced to wait along busy roads without proper shelter.

Waiting sheds are basic public infrastructure. They provide protection from weather, a safe waiting area, and improve pedestrian safety.

We call for:

• Construction of additional covered waiting sheds near public schools.
• Covered walkways connecting school gates to main waiting areas.
• Proper lighting and seating in waiting sheds for student safety.

This small infrastructure project will greatly improve student safety, health, and comfort.
