Delivering Petition to County Council TOMORROW (Thursday) morning!!

There are currently over 1131 names on the petition OPPOSING ZTA 19-01 that seeks to make DETACHED Accessory Dwelling Units (aka HOUSES) able to be built on lots as small as 6000 square feet. 

The Council members still have not clarified WHAT IS THE POINT of doing this?

Affordable Housing ?? Not likely! Unless someone installs a trailer or other pre-fab unit, it is likely to cost well over $100,000 or even DOUBLE that to build a second HOUSE, aka detached ADU. And there is nothing currently requiring the ADU to be rented at any "affordable" rate!

Granny suite?? You can do that NOW, under current code, and much less expensively as an ATTACHED ADU - unless you're planning on putting Granny in a TRAILER!

Shouldn't our elected officials make a compelling case to us, the voters, before they make such a sweeping change to our residential ZONING? KINGS order edicts. Aren't elected officials in a democracy supposed to REPRESENT their residents' interests. WHOSE INTERESTS ARE THEY REPRESENTING by PUSHING DETACHED ADUs???
