CCCFH (Citizens Coordinating Committee on Friendship Heights)
Oct 3, 2025

Dear Neighbors,

Here is are some updates on numerous important issues in our county:

1. Petition to Vote Down the University Boulevard Corridor Plan

2. Feedback Requested on Friendship Heights Master Plan update

3. Debate on Housing Policy

MORE DETAILS BELOW:

1. Petition to Vote Down the University Boulevard Corridor Plan

Below is the Change.org petition “MoCo Council: Vote Down the University Boulevard Corridor Plan.”

The plan is overwhelmingly opposed by affected residents and covers a 3.5 mile corridor — this is a dramatic expansion of Montgomery County’s typically neighborhood-based planning approach and is likely to be used as a model elsewhere in the County if it is not defeated now.

You can read more and sign the petition here — fill in your town/city, state and zip code to sign.

2. Feedback Requested on Friendship Heights Master Plan update

Thanks for your interest in the Friendship Heights Sector Plan!

We are excited to announce that our interactive online visioning activity is live on the plan website! The activity includes a presentation on how sector and master plans are implemented, and then you can scroll down to explore images and share your input about three different sites for potential future redevelopment in Friendship Heights. It will remain live through October 17, 2025. We look forward to receiving your feedback!

If you have questions about the web-based visioning activity, please contact Atara Margolies: atara.margolies@montgomeryplanning.org

September 30 visioning workshop recap
A special thank you to everyone who joined us at our fall visioning workshop on September 30 at the Wisconsin Place Community Recreation Center. Over 60 people joined the sector plan team for a presentation on how plans are implemented, as well as discussion groups about several potential future redevelopment sites in Friendship Heights.

Next steps
After the online visioning activity closes on October 17, staff will begin working on a summary of engagement feedback. We will present a visioning recap to the community and the Planning Board later this fall.

If someone has forwarded you this e-letter we encourage you to sign up and pass the link along to your neighbors.

Thank you again for your interest in the Friendship Heights Sector Plan!"
