Monmouthshire County Council have today implemented a decision to make local businesses on Church Street and throughout the town apply and pay for permits to put out plants, stands, tables and chairs etc etc. The first picture is Church Street with all shops open and the second pic is what the street looks like when everyone keeps their furniture in! We are afraid that Church Street will die and Monmouth's valued independent businesses will suffer.We ask Monmouthshire County Council to repeal the decision to apply charges and fines, and to work with local businesses to ensure street displays are as attractive as they have always been, safe.
