Petition updateRestore the Clothing Optional Area at Split Rock Downstream

A Word about Split Rock and the LGBTQ Community

Thanks to everyone who has signed and commented on my petition. I want to address some of the comments questioning why I'm framing this as an LGBTQ issue.

Although the main problem is the nudity ban that takes away the clothing-optional area, there is a small unofficial area within it, where mostly gay men gathered. That's the spot that I visited, and it was one of the few LGBTQ gathering spaces in the region. The nudity ban has ensured that it will never be the same, as it has done for the clothing-optional area as a whole. Because this spot is my reason for opposing the ban, I included it in my petition and letter to Mohonk Preserve.
The naturist community has always embraced and supported us, and I want to do the same in return as we push to have the nudity ban reversed.

To my knowledge, mine is the only petition on this issue. If there is another that doesn't mention the LGBTQ community, I am happy to support it.

The higher the number of people who speak out, the higher the potential revenue losses to Mohonk Preserve. As I write this, there are 1391 supporters. Hypothetically, if each buys a day pass at $15, Mohonk Preserve collects $20,865. If each becomes an annual member at $60, the Preserve brings in $83,460. Those amounts are significant and should get their attention.
