Stop mass marketing of addictive and cancer causing gutka to susceptible youth of India

Smokeless tobacco consumed as gutka and areca nut (i.e. betel nut or supaari) consumed as pan masala are known carcinogens. They have also been conclusively linked to illnesses of the cardiovascular and the nervous systems. Yet their consumption is prevalent in India and is responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths each year and even more non-fatal yet debilitating illnesses. These poisons are deceptively marketed on mass media using innocuous proxy products like mouth fresheners despite laws that ban their advertising. Most of these ads harness the influence Bollywood celebrities have over their impressionable fans.
We petition the Government of India to strengthen the existing law to close this loophole. We also petition the celebrities Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Shahrukh Khan, Govinda and Sunny Leone to realize their social responsibility and stop marketing these poisons to their fans.
