Try tanning you hides with a clean dressing , spread the pelt on a clean surface or plywood with four corners nailed with flesh side up cutting away most meat without cutting through skin.  Get salt container and a nice hand held smooth like  lava rock spread salt throughout the pelt and start rubing away the leftover meat n grease gently , it will take several days of hard work , but at the  end result you will enjoy a rug or even blanket . When the pelt is smooth like  soft leather , it is ready. Try it , practice makes perfect and you will have spent quality time with your young Hunter and taught him or her a valuable lesson on utilizing all from the kill. God Bless n good luck.
