The Descansos / crosses on roadsides throughout not only our county but throughout our state are not only reminders of those souls that died in those locations but as our elders told us from times past "these monuments and markers of the cross are reminders of our faith and commitment to Jesus Christ that act as a symbolic image and warning to ward off evil, not only from that specific location, but from all surrounding areas" . Promotion of restoration and remembrance of those that died at these sites would benefit not only the memory of these souls and families that erected the monument, but would act as reminders to all , especially evil , that we are strong in faith.
