Thank You

As I watched George H. W. Bush say “play ball” at the game last night and heard the commentators talk warmly about it, I felt sad. There are now five women who say that the former president groped them: Heather Lind, Jordana Grolnick, Christina Baker Kline, Liz Allen, and Amanda Staples. As the game began, I wondered how those women must be feeling knowing that our culture ignores and diminishes their stories, especially when the perpetrator is a powerful man.
I won’t lie — I was hoping for a much bigger impact with this petition, but I am grateful for each and every signature. Thank you for standing up, it makes a difference! All people deserve dignity and respect and so often in our culture women are not afforded it. My personal motivation is my 3 daughters, my wife, my sisters, my mother, my friends. I want this world to be a place where they are safe to pursue their dreams and NEVER feel they have to keep quiet about an assault for fear of negative repercussions.
Keep fighting the good fight.
