Keep Tennis Affordable in Prospect Park

Dear Commissioner Silver,
Now that you are reviewing RFPs for a potential new operator for the Prospect Park Tennis Center, we are concerned about a significant potential price increase. We support the Prospect Park Alliance to continue their role as the concession operator for the Tennis Center.
The Alliance’s mission is to sustain, restore and advance the Park to benefit the diverse communities that call Brooklyn home. Whether through leagues, lessons, afterschool programs, summer camp, or special aces, the tennis center has benefited our diverse community by keeping tennis accessible and affordable to many. Additionally, any income generated by the tennis center goes back into the betterment of the tennis center itself, maintenance of the parade grounds, and into Prospect Park.
We ask that the Alliance continue to be the vendor for the Prospect Park Tennis Center for the following reasons:
1. Maintain affordable rates.
2. Continue to keep tennis accessible in our community.
3. The alliance is a 501(c)3 organization with a mission to benefit Brooklyn.
4. Ensure the employment of current staff who not only teach but live within our community.
