Give Ms. Loretta Lynch a Rapid Senate Confirmation Hearing by the 113th Congress
Give Ms. Loretta Lynch a Rapid Senate Confirmation Hearing by the 113th Congress
The Issue
Dear Chairman Leahy and Ranking member Grassley:
I am adding my name to the list of US citizens that demand that United States Attorney General Nominee, Loretta Lynch get a speedy and fair confirmation hearing by the 113th Congress.
Since, President Obama nominated Ms. Lynch the national punditry have begun an unwarranted attempt to disparage Ms. Lynch. Most troubling are the attempts to besmirch Ms. Lynch’s stellar career as a private attorney and multiple US Senate confirmed assignments as the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York. In order, to maintain the American people’s confidence in the Senate Judiciary Committee’s confirmation process, it is imperative that ad hominem attacks are not a part of the Committee’s and overall Senate’s considerations.
A career public servant such as Ms. Lynch has earned the right to have her professional record rapidly reviewed and given a vote. Moreover, the fact that the Judiciary Committee and US Senate have voted multiple times to confirm Ms. Lynch in one of the most critical US Attorney posts in the country should expedite the fact gathering and background check process.
Given the above, I consider it to be in the best interest of the United States that Ms. Lynch be give a confirmation hearing and vote by the end of the current of 2014.
