MIT recently changed the minimum meal plan for upperclassmen. The number of meal swipes increased from 125 to 150 meals per semester, and the amount of dining dollars decreased from $295 to $100 per semester. This change was accompanied by a $550 increase in price for the meal plan, which increases the price per meal swipe from $13.25 to $14.20. This change does not accommodate students' needs to eat lunch on campus or have the flexibility to eat outside of the dining halls.
