Clarion Ledger Returns to Court to Make TAC Report Public

Families as Allies
2016/08/04
The Clarion Ledger has gone back into federal court to ask the court to make public the children’s mental health assessment done by the Technical Assistance Collaborative. To quote from their brief: “The sole basis for both the State’s lone opposition to the Clarion Ledger’s original motion to vacate and the Court’s denial of that motion was the parties’ ongoing settlement negotiations. Those settlement negotiations have now concluded. Accordingly, the public’s interest in accessing the TAC Report now outweighs the parties’ interest in resolving this matter. Because that was the only factor weighing in favor of maintaining the protective order, and because that factor is now moot, this Court should grant the Clarion Ledger’s renewed motion to vacate.” Let’s hope this assessment, which contains recommendations to reform the children’s mental health system, is finally made public so that all of us can work together to fix the system for all of Mississippi’s children. The court documents can be read in the link below.
