Why this petition matters

Started by Deborah Gonzalez

On May 8th, 2019, we received news that the Canadian Visa Office in Havana will no longer process bio-metrics (fingerprints and photos) as part of the application for a visitor’s visa.  Instead, the applicant will have no choice but to travel to a Visa Application Centre (VAC) outside of the country.

It means that our family members will be forced to request an entry visa to a 3rd country that processes bio-metrics for Canada and then, if granted, travel to that country to provide the mandatory bio-metrics.

The possibility of enjoying the visit of our parents or relatives to Canada, has suddenly become a long, complex and incredibly expensive affair for all of us.

We respectfully request to keep the collection of bio-metric data in Havana.
