Smoke-free commercial eating areas - Maldives

Smoke-free commercial eating areas - Maldives
The Issue
According to statistics, 81% of Maldivian die due to non communicable diseases. Tobacco use is a contributing factor to almost all of these diseases. Many of whom would be victims of secondhand smoke as well.
With every breath in a restaurant or bar that allows smoking, workers, and non-smokers are exposed to 7,000 chemicals that cause heart disease, lung cancer, and other serious illnesses. It is estimated that,non-smoking employees in such restaurants smoke the equivalent of up to 36 cigarettes over the course of an 8-hour work shift.
NO WORKER SHOULD HAVE TO PUT THEIR HEALTH AT RISK TO EARN THEIR PAYCHECK!
NOW IS THE TIME FOR ALL WORKPLACES TO PROTECT THEIR WORKERS AND FAMILIES FROM TOXIC SECONDHAND SMOKE EXPOSURE. ALSO HELP REDUCE THE USE OF TOBACCO AMONG THOSE WHO SMOKE!
Please sign this petition for the sake of your kids and loved ones. Lets make all restaurants and cafe's in Maldives smoke free.
