The Issue

Hasdei Arand is India's last remains stretches of unbroken forests, home to elephant, leopards, bears, elephants and other species of plants.

It is rich storehouse of water in country which faces water crisis of large proportion. Hasdeo-Arand is larger that of National Capital Territory of Delhi.

You may say that development require sacrifices. But it is more than that, it is more of upcoming ecological disaster.

Council say auction of coal mines in Hasdeo- Arand region violates the Forest Right Act(FRA) 2006. The ministry of environment & forests can provide forest clearance under FRA act, 1980 only after confirming that village council give their permission.

Environmental clearance in Parsa mine (Chhatisgarh) is illegal, forest advisory committee has earlier said that Hasdeo-Arand cannot be opened for mining.

Forest survey department Report 2014 states " Hasdeo-Arand should be safe from mining " said shrivastava who has moved to court for deallocation of coal block.

In 2009 ,Environment ministry has claimed Hasdeo Arand as "no go" area for mining for its rich, dense forest cover. Approval of mining go completely against the law of forest conservation.

RRVUNL said that it has all necessary permission. Except final forest clearance. However, It has pending legal issues and grant of approval completely goes against the environment protection principal that is need of hour.

Coal mining permission was given against the village council consent. By allegedly forging the acceptance of local Adivasis and violating the India law.

Over four year of hon. Narendra modi government to 2018 , 519 infrastructure projects were cleared in India's protected area, compared to 260 by Manmohan Singh government
