The State Government has released the latest draft of the Planning & Design Code (P&D Code) for Metro Adelaide (including the Adelaide Hills Council district) and we are pleased that a new Adelaide Hills Subzone has been created specifically to address the concerns expressed by this petition regarding effective inclusion of the Median Rule Land Division Tool in the P&D Code.

We have had feedback that the Minister has specifically mentioned this petition and subsequent representation to a Parliamentary committee (mentioned in our last update) as being decisive factors in ensuring that this was included. This petition has also been mentioned by Council Planning Policy staff as a factor in this decision in a recent brief to elected members. 

We are still not quite at the point of declaring victory on this petition as Council Planning Policy staff have indicated that there needs to be a Restricted Development trigger included in the Code to act as a deterrent to developers who want to try and get around these provisions. We are looking at whether we need to make a further submission to the latest draft consultation
