request a Legislative review of the Islands Trust

The Island Trust after 40 years: has it failed or succeeded in fulfilling the Provincially legislated mandate? The Trust has grown exponentially in staff and in budget over the years and has increasingly become involved in many issues outside of it’s original mandate. Trust Council seems to have lost it’s vision and with it, it’s effectiveness. Development continues to erode the rural character of the Trust Area and is impacting the environment and ecology of the islands.
It’s time to discuss options to the existing structure and organization of the Islands Trust, with a view to improve it’s planning, reduce it’s costs to taxpayers, and re-focus on the object of the mandate.
Sign this petition to encourage the Minister of Municipalities, Ms. Selina Robinson, to initiate a legislative review on the effectiveness of the current structure and organization of the Islands Trust in meeting the expectations of residents and property owners within the Trust Area and in BC generally, in preserving and protecting the Islands as directed by the object of mandate.
