Ban ALL non-organic pesticides in Australia by End of 2021

The Issue

A new report says that pesticides are killing off the world’s insects at an alarming rate. And bees, butterflies and beetles are right at the top of the endangered list. By the end of the century, they could all be gone.
These insects pollinate crops, rejuvenate soil and supply food chains the world over. If we lose them, we lose the planet. But a small group in Switzerland called Future3 has a radical idea that could get all our fields buzzing back to life.
The model of these farmers, scientists and citizens is to get governments across the world from Europe to Australia to ban ALL non-organic pesticides. Last week, they launched eye-catching ads in Swiss train stations, walkways, and bus stops leading right to the doors of the Swiss Federal Assembly. In Australia we need to do something similar leading to the doors of the decision makers in Parliament. We need to forward this petition to them.
There's a sea change happening across the globe right now. In Bavaria, the largest state in Germany, a record number of voters just told the government they want fewer pesticides and more protection for bees and other insects. And there are now more than 155 local ordinances in communities across the United States, which limit the use of harmful pesticides.
Future3’s cry for a pesticide-free Switzerland was answered by over 100,000 petition signers -- enough to hold a nationwide referendum next year. But before that happens, the Swiss Parliament has to say whether they support or oppose the pesticide ban, and that will have a huge influence on how the rest of the country votes.
So this week, Future3 unveiled an unprecedented campaign to remind politicians how deadly pesticides are to humans, animals and the planet. From distributing hard-hitting leaflets to bringing in world-renowned chemical experts, they have what it takes to change history. Adding Australia to the long list of countries that are making this important issue a high priority will have a huge impact worldwide, supporting those nations that are already acting and providing an example for as yet undecided nations to follow.
