Petition updateStop CMRL (Chennai Metro Rail Limited) takeover of suburban MRTS

Metro ridership is still below the suburban MRTS after phase-I completion

Hello all,

The phase-I of metro rail in Madras has been completed. Despite CMRL's best efforts (offering free rides for a few days, shuttle services and even lobbying to get bus stops shifted to the entrances of metro stations), the current ridership of the two lines combined (about 90,000 per day) is still lower than the as on date, incomplete suburban MRTS line which has more than 100,000 per day (and has had no favours done to it like shifting bus stops). I have updated the main petition to include the new data. It remains to be seen if the metro system attracts more people or if the ridership drops off from its current level. Meanwhile, as a fellow fan of the suburban rail, I would like to urge all of you to keep sharing this petition and try to get more signatures whenever possible. This update just reinforces that converting a suburban rail to metro is a rotten idea. Thanks again for signing.

Regards

Prathap
