Protect Summit Lake Watershed for All BC Residents

The Issue

Respectfully from the community of Summit Lake, we are requesting that the parcels identified on Map 16 of the WMFN TLE, located at Summit Lake, be withdrawn from the current negotiation process.

This land is adjacent to the lakeshore and contains a swamp area that is considered to be of vital importance to the sustainability of the Summit Lake watershed.  The lots were deemed unsuitable by government for lagoon and onsite sewage purpose development years ago as such development would negatively and permanently impact the Summit Lake watershed.

If these vital watershed lands at Summit Lake are transferred to the West Moberly First Nations in Fee Simple they have confirmed their intent to convert these lands to Federal Reserve lands. Once these vital watershed lands at Summit Lake are converted to Federal Reserve lands, the West Moberly First Nations have indicated their plans to develop the lands regardless of the lasting long term negative impact on the Summit Lake watershed.

Please help protect the Summit Lake watershed for all British Columbians by signing the below petition to have the parcels identified on Map 16 of the WMFN TLE, located at Summit Lake withdrawn from the current negotiation process.
