Today, Soweton Live and Times Live reported on the petition to End Childhood Statelessness in South Africa. Hopefully we will get more signatures to support the fight to help these children.
In another article posted today the Home affairs spokesman, Mayihlome Tshwete, said there were no plans to sign the international conventions on stateless people, as the Citizenship and Births and Deaths Registration acts were adequate.
The stories of LHR's clients in the publication "Childhood Statelessness in South Africa" clearly illustrate how the current laws are not only inadequate, but they cause statelessness. Find the publication here:

Let's get the message through to the Department of Home Affairs so they can make the necessary changes in the laws to help stateless children in South Africa.
Regards,
The Statelessness Team, LHR
