McCain Foods Canada Response

We have over 500 signatures in the first two weeks, but we need many more to convince restaurants to not use the GE/GM/GMO potato and food retailers to NOT sell the GE/GM/GMO potato. We wrote an email to McCain Foods Canada and our email and their response is listed below. Please share and sign so they understand that consumers do NOT want GE/GM/GMO foods. Question from GE Free Comox Valley: The GM potato, non browning, was approved March 2016 by Health Canada. Will McCain use these potatoes in your products ? would you label them on the box if you do use them? Continuing in your commitment for wholesome, healthy food for Canadians, I urge you not to even consider growing or buying GM potatoes. Consumers will boycott them in droves. Thank you. Response from McCain Foods Canada: Thank you for your e-mail. Since 1999 McCain has abided by a policy of not using genetically modified potatoes in any of our products globally. This policy holds true today, but we also recognize that science holds the potential to address many of the issues that continue to challenge the world with respect to the sustainable production of affordable and nutritious food to meet the demands of a growing population. Regulatory compliance and consumer acceptance for the use of any new technology will guide our actions. We will pass your comments on to the appropriate department.
