Hunger crisis hits Namibians hard

On Independence Day 2022, while the political elites were enjoying cake and celebrating the day in style, many of the poorest Namibians could be seen scouring the dumpsites for something to eat.
Meanwhile, adding to the high rate of inflation, the price of basic foodstuffs is set to rise sharply in April as Namib Mills yesterday announced looming price increases on flour, bread, pasta, maize meal, rice and sugar.
With the high level of unemployment in Namibia, people are facing the real risk of famine and a humanitarian crisis of unprecedented scope. That is why we must renew our campaign to demand that government start the urgent distribution of fish parcels to households in need.
We need your help to reach more people so that when we submit the petition to the government, we can show overwhelming mass support for our demand. Please share the petition and encourage your friends and family to sign and support the campaign today. Thanks!
