Request to ban hunting in areas east of the main channel of the Bow River, in Canmore
0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!
The current regulations allow bow hunting in several locations that are just too close to Canmore houses and trails.
The green shading in this image shows where the Bow Valley Wildland Park lies. Red arrows show wooded locations currently used extensively by hikers, picnickers, children exploring in nature, dog walkers – and bow hunters! We believe this creates a very unsafe situation, and that it is just a matter of time before someone is wounded or killed by an arrow, or runs into a large carnivore on a gut pile, with disastrous results. We feel that hunting should not be permitted in any area east of the main channel of the Bow River. Hunting is currently permitted throughout the Bow Valley Wildland Park, an area of over 92,000 acres/37,000 hectares; we propose the removal of less than 1% of the hunting area within this park.
