Anglicare is planning 57 private townhouses, which is not in the original concept plan for an aged care facility and a retirement village on the large forested site between Wilkies Street, McCauley Beach Estate and Sandon Drive, Bulli. This site is home to the endangered, natural heritage Coastal Turpentine Forest and the Aboriginal heritage site. Both are prestigious national assets which must be preserved for our future generations.
This excessive development adds unbearable burden and safety risk to the residents as the narrow streets cannot bear any further traffic chaos. The bulk, dense townhouses will dominate the surrounding area. They are out of context and break the harmony between people and environment in Sandon Point, Bulli, and McCauley’s Beach, Thirroul, diminishing the heritage value of Lawrence Hargrave Drive.
It is in the best interest of the environment and community that Anglicare abandons this overdevelopment that ruins social-environmental relations and puts the safety of residents at risk.
