Cattle should have at least 4 metre square of shade per animal. Not much here. Many regions in Australia are in the midst of another heatwave and temperatures are in their 40's. We are in the midst of an animal welfare crisis. Please contact your Local MP, councillors, Ministers and Media. STAY LOUD Queenslanders also sign this e petition which ends in Feb to give Farm Animals the right to shade shelter.
Sparks is an Extension Veterinarian from Oklahoma State University (radio interview source - Living in the Country Life) ‘If you’re uncomfortable, the herd is too hot, and if you’re too hot, the herd is in serious danger,…cattle don’t sweat and have an upper critical temperature that is about 20 degrees cooler than humans.’ Sparks states that if it is 26.6 ℃ it feels like 37.7 ℃ to cattle. They are also effected by humidity. There is a world of suffering going on in our country.
