I received word late last night members of the Milton Selectboard and Town Administrator have seen and read this petition. I was provided feedback and comment from the Board on this process which I have summarized below:
- The Flatley Company needs permission from the Milton Building Commissioner and Milton Board of Appeals
- The Selectboard has asked for due diligence about revenues opportunities and the lifespan of the sign
- The Town's Conservation Agent is doing further due diligence because of the Flatley Company's close proximity to the (Neponset) river.
- The Town Administrator has reached out a representative from the Town of Weymouth to get more information about their experience with (digital) billboards.
- Several residents have written to the Board and shared thoughtful comments. All comments will be considered, and this topic will be on a future agenda for discussion.
- Nothing is being rushed through to limit opposition. Just the opposite, the Selectboard and Town Administrator are engaged in due diligence about this proposal.
- There will be ample opportunity for public input before decisions are made
- The Selectboard is not the Board that acts on variance applications
- The (Zoning) Board of Appeals has jurisdiction to act on variance requests. The BOA does not have an application from the Flatley Company before it yet.
- The Selectboard's discussion was an initial meeting on the topic. There will be much more public process to come
My comment: I find it concerning the the Selectboard has not come out in opposition to this proposal. Please continue to share and sign (DO NOT GIVE MONEY!). Continue to share your comments with the Selectboard. They read them and take them into consideration.
Thank you,
Pat Kane
