Petition updateStop NCTD from Constructing Train Fence in 2020 on Del Mar Bluffs and in North CountyFence worse than expected - Please send email to NCTD for 10/15 board meeting (tomorrow)

The NCTD (North County Transit District) has issued specifics on the proposal, and in many ways, it is worse than expected because the fence isn't being built right next to the tracks, but rather near street and park level overlooking the bluffs. The fence starts at the playground and Seagrove Park, and extends past 4th Street into Torrey Pines State Beach. It will be very visible along the entire length.

Del Mar Deputy Mayor Terry Gaasterland serves as Del Mar's representative on the board and has been a strong advocate for Del Mar on this issue. We need to pressure all of the other NCTD board members to reject this terrible idea. This is both deeply unpopular and a terrible waste of taxpayer resources and money. Most of the board members are elected officials and will respond to public pressure.

The fence is not a formal agenda item for the 10/15 meeting, but please send the board members an email with subject heading "10/15 Board Meeting - Del Mar Fence" expressing your disagreement with the fence proposal.
