CALL TO ACTION. VOTE JUNE 2ND AND STOP BONIN'S APPOINTEES
To our supporters,
We must make one last stand against all the (1) Venice Blvd. Road Diet (probably illegal in that it violates the Ca Environmental Quality Act), (2) Homeless Proliferation (probably illegal), and (3) Overdevelopment (certainly illegal) policies being promoted by the Mayor and City Council.
WE NEED YOU TO VOTE, this is a very important election.
This Sunday, June 2nd, from 10am - 4pm, we have a chance to weigh in by voting for our Neighborhood Council representatives at the Mar Vista Recreation Center, Mar Vista Park, 11430 Woodbine Street.. You may vote if you're over 18 and either live, work, or own property within the MVCC boundaries *.
*The exception to this is the Community Director position for which ANYONE who claims a stake in Mar Vista (frequents a restaurant or shop or park or is has an interest in Mar Vista) may vote. Elliot Hanna is running for re-election to this position, and is our current MVCC chair--we vigorously recommend that ANYONE eligible to vote for him do so.
There is a slate of candidates that was picked by Bonin and Hannah Levin, and with Rob Kadota’s help, they are being promoted heavily in the community. These people who claim to represent Mar Vista have spent the past few years trying to destroy it. Many have played too powerful a role in past and present efforts to place members on the MVCC Board of Directors who work for the CD11/City offices instead of the stakeholders.
We are also shocked and alarmed by the offer for free food sponsored by (and advertised by) a few new faces on the slate of candidates mentioned above, most of whom have NOT attended any committee meetings prior to announcing their candidacy for running. This is a quid pro quo that would be ILLEGAL in any City, State, or Federal election.
Here are our recommendations for the MVCC:

These candidates don't offer any "quid pro quo" or food-bribes for your votes--all they offer is their uncountable hours of volunteer service and to stand up for what’s best for Mar Vista. These candidates ask only for your consideration to vote for and allow them to continue reforming and representing the MVCC.
We wish there were other At-Large Directors that we could support, but most are either unproven and have proven tone-deaf, if not downright hostile, to the overwhelming majority of those MVCC (Mar Vista, Westside Village, Westdale and North Westdale) stakeholders they claim to represent.
These candidates that we recommend have shown their willingness to work, and attend committee and/or Board meetings, and who understand that the following are major problems:
1) The Road Diet on a secondary freeway (Venice Blvd.) that causes calamity and safety issues for all parties concerned, and
2) The Homeless Proliferation that causes calamity and safety issues for all parties concerned, and
3) Overdevelopment that causes calamity and safety issues for all parties concerned.
