Jane has won her appeal this evening and has been re instated a midwife!

The last few weeks have been very long and upsetting for all involved in this process. However, this evening, the chair of the appeal panel confirmed that Jane has been re instated as a Midwife! We, but Jane especially, cannot thank you enough for your support over the last few weeks. For your messages of love, encouragement and compassion; Jane has read every single one of them. As the hundreds and then thousands of signatures from across the globe came in, as her 'story' was published in national media (we heard on the grapevine that it has even been discussed on Radio 2 today!) we both became pretty overwhelmed and a little fearful we will be honest! Jane has asked me to pass on her personal thanks to you all. The support she has received from this petition cannot be underestimated, and has been echoed by her wonderful colleagues, friends and family. Having worked as midwives for the last 16 years, we are very aware of the policies and guidelines that trusts have in place in order to protect service users and staff. However I have always believed that there are some circumstances which must negate a review of such policies and demand some flexibility in order for a right and just outcome for service users and staff. Jane has been a midwife for 16 years; her commitment to the organisation and primarily the women in her care, has always been unquestionable. Jane's case has been widely publicised and we have both been incredibly moved but also saddened at times on the journey. We really hope that this outcome gives others strength and hope. As part of the appeal, this petition asked the panel to consider; - the 16 years that Jane has given outstanding care. - the huge numbers of students that have been inspired to be the best they can be because of her outstanding mentorship. - the hundreds of women that speak of her inspirational care during the most vulnerable time in their lives. - the staff that support her and yet have been advised to 'stay quiet' for fear of reprimand. - the loss of her to the profession and the effect it would have on the staff that give their all in such a difficult working environment. Tonight, the little fish in the big ocean have won and Jane is back where she should be! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
