On July 7th, Microsoft decided to disallow Windows 8 tablet users to run Skype Modern (which was designed for tablets) and force them instead to "upgrade" to Skype for Desktop. This has a number of disadvantages for tablet users.

1. The UI in Skype for Desktop is Not Designed for a Touch Interface (ie panels are hard to navigate, buttons are too small, resolution is blurry, a new window opens for every chat)
2. There is No Standby Mode
3. There are No Live Tile Notifications
4. Multitasking is Crippled by chaining the user to the desktop to use Skype and forcing other desktop apps to share space

Microsoft's "Solution" to the problems they've created for tablet users is to say "Wait for Windows 10" which is at the very least MONTHS away from integrating a tablet friendly version of Skype. This is not an acceptable solution. Why should we wait when other tablet users can still use Skype Modern? Why should we wait when Skype for Desktop is interfering with workflow and productivity TODAY?

The Definition of Upgrade:

"raise (something) to a higher standard, in particular improve (equipment or machinery) by adding or replacing components."

Raise yourself to a higher standard Microsoft. You are letting other RT Tablet users continue to use Skype Modern, the technology is not going away you are just discriminating against a select group of your users by forcing them to use an inferior product. Enough is Enough. We are your loyal customers, many of us are even Surface users, stop punishing us for our loyalty.
