So I met up with a classmate of mine after class and we started talking about this great game (Ark: Survival Evolved) and we were planning on playing the game together. We were shocked to realize Steam and Microsoft copies of the same game can't join a game together. This has happened a few times in my experiences. My cousin has the game as well and we were planning on playing together. We joined the same server, ran to the same spot, couldn't find each other. Do companies really have to tear a game fanbase apart at a fundamental level?

I see no reason why I should spend $100 for a game I already own so my solution to both Microsoft and Valve is this: Keep your servers separated. Mark each server with the origin company (IE. Valve-Aberration-269, Microsoft-Aberration-269) and let us play with our friends and family. I've seen countless posts regarding this issue and honestly? It doesn't take much effort to send data from 1 server to another. just build a back door for only Microsoft/Valve communications between servers and give the power back to the gamers. Don't involve us in your petty "control the world" schemes.

While I detailed this situation for Ark: Survival Evolved, this is a more and more pressing issue with gamers these days. People don't want to trade a set of friends on 1 system for a set of friends on another. They want to cooperate and build friendships. Let's build a better player base today for a brighter (less toxic) future tomorrow.
