__________________________________________________________PETITION REACHES NEARLY 500 SIGNATURES

We are also proud to announce that our petition has reached nearly 500 signatures. Each time someone signs the petition an email is sent to the person's respective State Senator and State Representative expressing support for passage of House Bills 5941-5944 and Senate Bills 848-851. If passed, the bills will end life without parole sentences for Michigan children.

This means nearly 1,000 email messages have been sent to lawmakers so far (i.e., 500 messages to State Senators and 500 messages to State Representatives).

You are encouraged to please continue sharing the petition in your email and social media networks so lawmakers can continue receiving daily email messages about this campaign until the proposed bills are passed. If everyone can get 10 more people to sign the petition we can collect another 5,000 signatures and send 10,000 more email messages to lawmakers (i.e., 5,000 to State Senators and 5,000 to State Representatives) in support of the bills during the coming days.

SIGN PETITION SEEKING TO END LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE SENTENCES FOR MICHIGAN CHILDREN

Please sign the new online petition to send your respective Michigan State Representative and Senator an email expressing support for passage of House Bills 5941-5944 and Senate Bills 848-851. You are invited to also share the petition link widely in your social media network and ask others to do the same.

If passed, the bills will make Michigan the twenty-sixth state to end the inhumane practice of sentencing people to die in prison for crimes they committed when they were children. Another nine states have no one serving the extreme sentence who was convicted as a minor.

The bills recognize the concept of redemption and allow juvenile offenders to receive term-of-year sentences that provide them release consideration later in their adult lives based on demonstrated change and rehabilitation.
