We  The People Of The State Of Illinois are asking for a change in our State Laws  Where Pet Cemeteries and Crematorium's are regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency. In the month of July in Tazewell County Illinois ABTS Funeral Home Owner Joseph Abts whom also owned and operated Katy's Pet Cemetery and Crematorium was , Cremating our community's pets.

After A Broken freezer was located on the grounds of said cemetery with rotting remains of dog's and cat's located inside a investigation was launched, During this investigation other freezer's were located with a number of other pets inside. These pet owner's were given ashes some dating back to 2001 claiming these ashes were their pets. Our Chief Deputy Lower questioned Mr Abts in regards to the remains, 12 Animals  total were found in freezers 9 of  which were micro chipped. 7 owners were identified and 6 of them had received ashes said to be their animals. Case was closed after Mr Abts took his own life. We The People also feel this said case should be reopened Due to the fact there are other employees still handing over Ashes of Pets to families after some being over a Year.
