Animals' lives are at risk...Keep The RSPCA Animal Care Centre in Launceston open

The RSPCA's Animal Care Centre in Launceston has been helping animals in northern Tasmania for decades, giving the stray and unwanted safety, shelter and veterinary care when everyone else has turned their backs.

But now it's the RSPCA that needs our help and if help doesn't come, the RSPCA's doors in Launceston will close, leaving literally thousands of animals alone to fend for themselves every single year. This could happen as early as August.

The organisation has assumed responsibility for the welfare of animals no one wants, those harmed and mistreated and those that have been abandoned, and the Launceston community expects this service to continue.

Animal care and management for the City of Launceston and surrounding regions is a huge task, and it's a service for which the council pays the RSPCA a fraction of what it's actually worth.

Instead RSPCA Launceston's donors have been footing the bill.

Now after years of working for the community and the council, RSPCA Tasmania is in need of funds, and the council must meet its financial and moral obligations to the animals of its municipality.

The City of Launceston must acknowledge the value of the work the organisation does on its behalf, in the animal care facility and for the wider community by adequately remunerating the RSPCA.

Please sign the petition and tell the City of Launceston to pay RSPCA Launceston for the work it does in the council's municipality on the council's behalf and to work with the RSPCA in the future to support all animals in the region.
