Disbandment or Legal Posting of Speed Cameras in Norton, Ohio

Disbandment or Legal Posting of Speed Cameras in Norton, Ohio

The Issue

I hope to solve the pressing matter of the crude, unauthorized ticketing on I-76/US-224 in Norton, Ohio. Recently the city has begun using speed ticketing cameras in the area where construction is happening east bound, but not currently happening west bound. They are still ticketing both ways with substantial fines, and it is causing quite the uproar.

The biggest reason this seems so crude and unauthorized is that there are no legal sign postings of the area being monitored or officers personally issuing tickets. Instead, tickets are just showing up to the "violator's" homes in the mail. Though the letters that come in the mail have "evidence" of a violation, which includes the "violator's" picture, there can be a lot of unforeseen and/or undocumented circumstances that make a ticket unwarranted. Not to mention, there is always the possibility of technical malfunctions with the camera. Without proper monitoring and interaction with an officer, a ticket should not be allowed to be written.

I petition the City of Norton, Summit County, and The State of Ohio to immediately act to disband the use of speed cameras, or at the very least require proper signage in the area they are being used, in order to make them legal.
