Labor are planning on removing the unrestricted zones on the remote parts of the stuart highway.  This was one of the reasons they got voted out in 2012.  It almost seems they will remove them on a political basis, without caring about the people, or the data.

Having recently driven this stretch of road I can tell you, we were probably the fastest vehicle at 160ish. We hardly saw any other vehicles, like maybe 10.

Now I don't expect open speed limits between Darwin and Katherine, but further out the risk is mitigated.  You can save over 2 hours on a trip from Katherine to Alice without doing anything remotely bordering stupid & dangerous in the modern cars of today. I doubt the people who push for the 130 limit have ever driven this part of the highway.  And lets be real, the idiots are going to be idiots regardless of any limit you impose.

Please, help me start a petition to show Michael Gunner and the labor party that they are going against the wishes of the people who travel this highway, let's encourage them to investigate this issue rather than remove it for political agenda.  At least review the data available with an open mind!

There are many arguments for and against this topic, all I am asking is that it is investigated fairly and a just decision is made regarding the viability of these unrestricted zones.
