Stop the government legalising animal cruelty

The Issue

In the EU withdrawal bill, MP's have voted to reject "animal sentience", the admission that animals feel pain and emotions. Most animal welfare legislation comes from EU law and after years of campaigning, sentient status was incorporated into EU law in 2009. UK legislation will on withdrawal just be the Animal Welfare Bill 2006. This only covers domestic animals and does not include sentience. How can they decide in the face of growing evidence to the contrary that animals cannot feel pain?  The only reason for doing this can be to exploit animals. Theresa May has already shown a desire to legalise fox hunting. Please sign now to make the government guarantee to continue to protect animal welfare after EU withdrawal.
