Dear neighbors, I am writing to thank you for supporting this petition. As you may be aware by now, your signatures (over 500!), along with pressure from the Neighborhood Associations and other groups, were instrumental in keeping MARTA bus routes (36 and 16) running through our neighborhoods (see www.itsmarta.com for updated bus routes). As a frequent bus 36 rider, I have heard drivers over the last few months praise our resolve to keep Midtown, Virginia-Highland, Lenox Park, and Druid Hills connected with public transit. I would like to restate my belief that public transit is a key trait of a healthy community. In conclusion, it is my sincerest hope that the results of this petition will not only deter MARTA from attempting to cut transit through our communities in future years (let it be known: we will fight it again!), but serve as a catalyst for increased reliable service in the aforementioned neighborhoods.
